We made it through Day 1. Got settled in, and made plans for Day 2. This would be the first day on the route, heading from Norwalk to Dayton. We planned a side trip to Grimes Field to check out the vintage air planes and B-17 bomber they are restoring.
We left our hotel in Ashland to meet up with friends in Bucyrus. It was about a 30 minute drive. The designated meeting spot had Hot Rod Power Tour written all over it. So many cool cars at the gas station!
We then travel along the route to Urbana, Ohio. Grimes Field was full of war era aviation and artifacts. The best part of the trip was the volunteers that share history with visitors and their skills in restoring and maintaining the planes.
We had lunch at the Cafe before continuing on to Dayton.
A ton of really cool cars at the venue. One of the nice things about Power Tour is the local support. Those that aren’t going from stop to stop can join in in their area for the day. This gives an opportunity to showcase their rides.
We met up for dinner and hung out in the hotel parking lot until late. Shenanigans ensued. This is what HRPT is all about! It was a great day. Check out the video below.
